My Joy is Restored
Before my counseling experience with Dr. Simi Adigun, I was an overwhelmed wife and mother of 2 who had lost her joy. I am saved and happily married, but I felt guilty and ashamed for feeling so down and depressed. I had everything I had prayed for. Marriage, children, a home, we earn a good living, my entire family loves the Lord and loves each other. What did I have to complain about? Well, I complained a lot. There is never enough time to do anything. I‘m always tired, my baby-girl can be very difficult, the “Terrible 2’s” are real! My husband works long hours and sometimes 7 days a week. It was starting to weigh me down to the point where I wondered “What’s the point?” I would rather be in heaven. I felt like adulting – adjusting to adulthood and taking on so much responsibility was too much for me. Then I felt guilty for feeling that way. I wanted to just pass away. “They’re better off without me”.
When I found myself crying in my sleep one night, I knew I needed help. I had completed a biblical counseling class that focused on using biblical principles to apply to your own life. It is the first course on the journey to becoming a biblical counselor – something I had aspired to be at one point. When I found out I could not ‘counsel myself’, I knew I needed to get help from someone who was indeed a certified biblical counselor. That’s how I was led to Simi. She has proven to be a wonderful Christian and biblical counselor and spiritual coach. I knew from our first meeting that I was in good hands and that this was indeed a ‘divine appointment’. She is easy to confide in, never seems judgmental, and often has words of advice. Better yet, she offers tactical advice that can be used right away. Simi helped me find my voice and courage to write again. Through her counseling, I learned how to listen for and hear God when he speaks to me, most importantly, I learned that I am not alone. Becoming an adult is hard and I’ll never be perfect at it. No one is!
Amazingly, even though I knew these things, and the biblical principles, I was not able to apply them until I had talked to someone else who was compassionate and experienced. The counseling I received through Simi helped me to practicalize the biblical principles until it became part of my everyday life. My journey of counseling with Divine Purpose Counseling and Coaching made the power of God’s word more impactful in my life and a source of strength for whenever I felt discouraged and overwhelmed. It’s good to know that when I feel I can’t do it alone, I have someone in my corner that I can confide in and will help me get back on the path.
I now know and understand that God truly loves me and is proud of me no matter what and that He is always perfecting me as I continue in my journey with Him. This new perspective through Simi’s Spiritual coaching has helped me to overcome any form of anxiety or fear. Now, I know when to ask for help and I know when to say “No” and not feel bad about it. Through her Spiritual coaching, I have learned how to set my boundaries and how to have fun! Woo-hoo!
