Develop And Maintain Good Habits

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens  me.” (Philippians 4:13)

Procrastination is a visitor that can move the divine appointment and the achievement of today till tomorrow. If allowed to linger, it will steal the fruit of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. With procrastination, tomorrow never comes because every day that comes is a tomorrow and every yesterday a today.” Dr. Simi Adigun

Day 14: This Prayer is taken from the Devotional Book: 21 Destiny Prayers

Heavenly Father, you said in your word that if I am willing and obedient to your voice, I will eat the best that the land produces (Isaiah 1:19). There are so many negative habits and negative “normal” behaviors that could keep me from eating the good fruit of the land you promised me if I allow them to control me. I want to develop and maintain good habits. I am now a new creature in you, old things have passed away, and all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). I want my new life to continue to germinate and produce fruit as I continue my walk in life.

My desire is to please you and not to participate in anything that will jeopardize your will and purpose for my life. Some of the bad habits that could keep me from living a productive life, and deprive me of the fruit of my promised land are procrastination, hatred of others, gossiping, slander, laziness, and a lack of discernment. I pray that I will not indulge in these bad habits or open the door for them in my life. Protect and shield me from falling into the trap of these negative and toxic habits or any unproductive behaviors.

Heavenly Father, I ask for your help to do what I need to do each day and to accomplish what you have for me on your mandate for my life. I know that there are times that I may want to do more than you have planned for me in a day. At such times, help me to see and heed the warning signals of exhaustion and the overuse of my energy. Help me not to forget what is important, which is allowing you to work through me and achieve your purpose through me as I rely on your power and your grace.

I pray that I will not allow procrastination to steal your divine timing and my season of reaping a good harvest. Every moment of the day is precious, so teach me how to appreciate every day you have blessed me with while I lean on your power and strength to move me forward. Direct my path every step of the way, for you alone are my Sustainer!

I pray that I will not meddle in anything that is a sin before you. When I make mistakes or fall into sin, help me to come to you right away and ask for your forgiveness. I pray that I will not take your grace and mercy for granted. Help me to maintain godly habits and to walk in the freedom that you have given me through Christ Jesus. Keep me from the things that you hate: lying, being a false witness, pride, killing the innocent, plotting evil and wickedness against others, willingness to do evil against others, and causing confusion and strife amongst others (Proverbs 6:16-19), which are all works of evil. I also ask that you help me not to partake in speaking negatively about anyone, no matter who they are.

Whenever I come across a situation with someone that involves confrontation, help me to speak my mind in love, not out of animosity or spite. I pray that I will practice seeking your face in prayer and applying your wisdom and guidance when handling such a difficult situation. Help me to remember that everyone was created in your image, and I must sow good seeds with my tongue, my words, and my attitude towards others.

Finally, I ask that you create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence and do not take your Holy Spirit away from me (Psalm 51:10) in Jesus’ name.
